A Great Idea?
Why would anyone offer a mystery box? Some people use it as a way to offload stock, I myself use it as an excellent way to engage with my customers, I get a great sense of satisfaction when a mystery box is opened and the contents are just right. Mystery boxes have been around for ages, it’s not a new idea, not all mystery boxes are well received though.
The Cursed Mystery Box Item
A lady In the Good ‘ol U S of A named only “Valerie” bought one such mystery box from eBay in the early noughties.
Her mystery box contained one very special “Cursed Penny” inside a sealed glass jar along with several typed notes. One of which stated that she was now responsible for the contents of the jar.
Exactly a month after opening the mystery box Valerie’s Air Conditioning broke, not much longer after that Valerie’s partner fought with her boss and her car broke down. That very night her feet were bitten by Fire Ants and she believes in her heart of hearts that it is the penny’s fault.
Rational Behaviour
My music boxes only contain great music. I hand select them and try to give them a central theme rather than just a random selection of vinyl’s. My aim is to be the best record shop Southport has to offer.
I won’t be using black magic to gain your custom. I’ll be arming you with the tools you need to entertain yourself to the max.
Value For Money
Are mystery boxes good value for money? More often than not they do have value. The ones you can purchase from eBay will be stock clearance items the sellers can’t shift and it’s a good way to get rid of outdated stock. They won’t have any value to a customer though.
My mystery boxes are different. Of course I’m going to say that but it’s true. Not only do mine have financial value but the entertainment value that comes along with these are priceless.
