Country And Western
Country is something that comes to mind when you hear of Dolly Parton or Johnny Cash as they were some of the more mainstream famous icons.
It needs no introduction, it’s still a popular form of music and everyone knows country when they hear it. But where are it’s origins rooted? Well follow me down the rabbit hole and i’ll explain…
Origins of Country Music
or more commonly known as country and western music. And the image in the last section does in fact represent itself quite well. It is the soul of America and they sure do love it over there.
In the 1920’s Country music was established but the term “Country Music” didn’t really become popular until the 1940’s.
Despite being labelled as proper American music, it’s origins is a blended mix of Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional English ballads, and cowboy songs, and various musical traditions from European immigrant communities.
Over time it has developed into one of the biggest genres of music in the world and people are made into stars.

Thats Megan McKenna, she used to be in some pop band called Lola but no one ever heard of them so she jacked to do her own thing. Questionable? She’s doing just the thing she loves so you go girl!
But here’s some real Country Music…
Chris Stapleton is probably the embodiment of everything you ever thought about country music. Beard, long hair, cowboy hat, singing about Whiskey no less. It’s actually a very good song as it happens, but would sound much better on vinyl.

It’s safe to say that country well and truly belongs to the Americans. Here are some of the worlds biggest country stars the world has ever seen:

Why is Country Music Important?
As with Chris Stapleton being the embodiment of everything that is country, people have a predisposed idea of what country songs are about. Generally they wold be, trucks, blue jeans wearing girls, drinking whiskey or beer.
There are plenty of songs that I could highlight and quote, but country music clearly has more meaning than beer or girls. Country music has related to me in many different situations and offered me a sense of comfort or encouragement when it was needed.
A lot of country songs are relate-able, country singers have always worn their heart on their sleeve and sing emotional roller coaster esque songs. It aligns itself with every other genre of music and has stuck around because people can associate themselves with the songs words. Powerful stuff.
